Depois de trabalhar a parte física na atividade da manhã, o elenco do Palmeiras finalizou a segunda-feira de trabalho com um treino no gramado da Academia de Futebol. A principal novidade foi a presença do meia venezuelano Alejandro Guerra. Ele se apresentou alguns dias depois dos demais e ainda não havia treinado com bola.

O reforço ainda depende da regularização de sua documentação para ter condições de jogo e ser apresentado.

O atacante Barrios, que não viajou para o amistoso com a Chapecoense por precaução, treinou com o grupo e deve ser aproveitado contra a Ponte, domingo, às 17h, no Allianz Parque, em novo amistoso.

Na primeira atividade da tarde, o técnico Eduardo Baptista aprimorou a marcação alta, como vem fazendo desde o começo do seu comando. Posteriormente, a comissão deu início a movimentações em campo reduzido, com poucos toques na bola por jogador.

O grupo volta a trabalhar nesta terça, novamente em dois períodos. Após o treino da manhã (com início às 9h30), o atacante Willian concederá entrevista coletiva. Ex-Cruzeiro, o atleta assinou com o clube por três anos – até o fim de 2019.

A number of Everton fans were livid with the performance of Mason Holgate during their 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday night.

The Toffees had been in with a chance of qualifying for European competition next term prior to this match and, although it is still mathematically possible for them to do so (Sky Sports), they are now rank outsiders. Daniel Jebbison scored his first-ever goal for the Blades (Transfermarkt), who are already relegated to the Championship, to give his side the three points.

The performance of Holgate will have been particularly disappointing for Carlo Ancelotti. He was partly at fault for the goal and, having won just two duels, he was taken off at half-time for Gylfi Sigurdsson as Everton tried to salvage something from the match. Performances such as this from some usually reliable players have cost the Goodison Park outfit throughout the season.

These fans were far from happy with what they saw from the £16.2m-valued Holgate (Transfermarkt), and they took to social media platform Twitter to share their thoughts on his “atrocious” performance.

West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu is reportedly being eyed up by Turkish giants Fenerbahce, ahead of a potential summer exit from the Hawthorns.

The Lowdown: Yokuslu excels for West Brom

The Baggies have officially been relegated back to the Championship, following a disappointing return to the Premier League in 2020/21.

They essentially gave themselves too much work to do in avoiding the drop, with survival master Sam Allardyce unable to keep his side in the top flight.

One of the few positives this season has been the form of Yokuslu, however, who has excelled since joining on loan from Celta Vigo in the winter transfer window, providing quality and tenacity in the middle of the park.

The Latest: Midfielder linked with return to Turkey

Unfortunately, West Brom’s relegation has led to speculation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future, with Takvim [via Sport Witness] claiming that Fenerbahce see him as an ideal replacement for Luis Gustavo, most likely as a loan signing.

It seems unlikely that the Baggies will be able to retain Yokuslu’s services moving forward, given their drop down to the second tier of English football and his status as a temporary Baggie.

The Verdict: Tough to keep hold of Yokuslu

In truth, it is hard to begrudge Yokuslu not wanting to stay put at the Hawthorns, whether permanently or on loan, with the Turk good enough to be playing top-flight football – teammate Kyle Bartley hailed him as ‘brilliant’ and ‘tenacious’ back in February.

The sad reality of being relegated is that teams will lose their most important players – something West Brom have experienced so often, given their seesaw nature between the Premier League and the Championship in recent years.

It would be a huge positive if Yokuslu ended up staying put, but that feels unrealistic, with 31 caps for Turkey speaking volumes about his quality.

In an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern, Steve Howey, who made 157 appearances for Newcastle United, believes his former side will be hoping to sign Joe Willock permanently this summer, but it must be for the right price.

Willock was Steve Bruce’s only signing during the January transfer window when he arrived on deadline day and after joining with little expectations, the 21-year old has proved himself to be a massive talent.

The Arsenal loanee has scored four goals in just seven starts for the Magpies, which has included three important goals against Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Liverpool.

Speaking on why he hopes Newcastle can sign Willock for £20 million this summer but how Mikel Arteta may want him back at Arsenal, Howey told The Transfer Tavern:

“I still think it’s silly money what they want for him but in this day and age, it doesn’t surprise me. He’s been excellent since he’s come in and has got some valuable goals.

“Arteta might want to bring him back and have a look at him next season but he might also have plans himself to bring in other players, which could mean Willock is surplus to requirements. So here’s hoping that you can get him for £20 million.”

It has been reported that Arsenal will be willing to part ways with their academy graduate for £20 million this summer, with the Magpies expected to be at the front of the queue.

Willock’s latest goal for Newcastle was a 96th-minute equaliser against Liverpool but he will not be available for the Magpies’ next fixture against Arsenal.

Celtic are thought to be interested in a summer move for Young Boys striker Jean-Pierre Nsame.

That’s according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claimed that Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham have also placed the 27-year-old on their transfer wish lists.

Nsame, a Cameroon international, has been on fire in front of goal in recent years. He has scored 97 goals in 169 games for the Swiss side after joining for just £810,000 back in 2017. It now seems as if he could be on the move, though, with the £6.3m-rated marksman attracting plenty of interest from Britain.

It seems as if new Celtic CEO Dominic McKay isn’t wasting any time in putting plans in place for the summer. He arrived at Parkhead seven days ago, and to us, Nsame could be a potentially ideal replacement for Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman is looking to seal a Celtic Park exit over the summer, regardless of who comes in as the club’s new manager.

It looks as if Nsame certainly has the goalscoring know-how to pick up wherever Edouard leaves off, but with a number of Premier League clubs seemingly keen, the Hoops may well be forced into a bidding war.

When Lee Johnson announced last Friday that Bailey Wright had returned to training, the Sunderland manager had a beaming smile on his face.

Little did he know, however, that his Australian stalwart was going to be thrown in at the deep end after their first defeat in 14 matches.

The Mackems have been brilliant in recent months but their 2-1 loss at the hands of Charlton last weekend dealt an almighty blow to their hopes of earning automatic promotion.

Though, those hopes were dealt another potentially catastrophic blow when they lost to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday evening. This was arguably one of the worst performances under Johnson as the Black Cats were made to rue a number of defensive errors.

This was a display that was completely out of character with how their defence have shaped up since February. With Luke O’Nien and Dion Sanderson a centre-back pairing, Sunderland had kept seven clean sheets in 12 games.

That being said, things have fallen by the wayside in the last few weeks; Johnson’s men now haven’t kept a shutout in four matches.

As they fell to a dismal 2-1 defeat on Tuesday, it was their defence who came under scrutiny. Wright was welcomed back into the starting XI after a late injury to Conor McLaughlin which meant that O’Nien had to shuffle across to right back with the Aussie coming in at centre-half.

Unfortunately, both players were left exposed. O’Nien could have done more for both goals as a pair of defensive calamities led to strikes being conceded from two set-pieces.

Wright has usually been so reliable for Sunderland and until his calf injury in February, had only missed one league game.

Though, on this display, he could be missing a few more between now and the end of the season. The defender tried to play long balls forward on a regular basis and that led to him conceding possession of the ball on a whopping 19 occasions.

For context, no Mackems played lost it more. That also led to a measly pass success rate of just 69%. Of those to start the game from an outfield perspective, only Charlie Wyke and Denver Hume registered a worse percentage.

Wright did prevail in eight aerial duels but ultimately, he looked off the pace and unfit. That’s hardly surprising given his lack of action but considering how adept he’s been in the past, he appeared to be a shadow of his former self.

At full-time, Johnson claimed that he felt “a little bit let down” by the performance of some of his players.

That was certainly the case with Wright. The boss should revert back to a centre-back partnership of O’Nien and Sanderson next time out.

Southampton are looking increasingly likely to sign Theo Walcott from Everton in the summer, and if he were to join the Saints permanently, it could prove to be bad news for rising star Nathan Tella.

Speaking to Hampshire Live recently, Raph Hasenhuttl hinted that the 32-year-old could join from the Toffees permanently this summer, saying: “I am very happy that he is comfortable here now and that he is happy to play for us and there is no reason why we should not think about keeping him longer.”

The Athletic have also suggested that Southampton will look to sign the former Arsenal man on a permanent deal, with his contract at Everton set to expire this summer.

Therefore, given that the £5.4m-rated Englishman has been a regular in Hasenhuttl’s side so far this season, making 16 appearances in the Premier League, it seems fairly likely that he will be with the Saints again next term.

Unfortunately, this could prove to be bad news for 21-year-old Tella, who enjoyed a run in the Southampton side earlier in the season when Walcott was injured.

He particularly impressed in the 2-0 win against Sheffield United in March, when his pace caused the Blades defence all sorts of problems and led to him winning a penalty in the first half, which James Ward-Prowse duly tucked away.

Tella has shown this season that he is too good to be playing in Premier League 2, as he memorably scored four goals as a striker against Leicester City under-21s earlier in the season, so he needs to be playing regular senior football for his development next season.

However, with the likes of Nathan Redmond, Moussa Djenepo and Stuart Armstrong already at the club, you worry that the permanent signing of Walcott is going to mean the 21-year-old is afforded very little playing time by Hasenhuttl.

Therefore, perhaps we will see Tella leave Southampton on loan next season, for if Walcott does join on a permanent deal, it is difficult to see where the youngster fits in.

Speaking after the Owls’ impressive 2-1 win over high-flying south Yorkshire rivals Barnsley, Wednesday manager Darren Moore revealed he was taking a look at the 28-year-old midfielder. He said, via The Star:

“What we’ll do is take a good look at Ravel and make a decision in the next two, three, four days so we know what we’re doing with Ravel going forward.”

The former Manchester United graduate has been without a club since leaving Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag and is free to join the Owls as he contract was terminated by mutual consent in January.

Polarising maverick

It’s not been too long since Wednesday last had a player who will cut the fanbase like a knife through butter. Indeed, Fernando Forestieri was that man for a very long time at Hillsborough.

After playing an instrumental role in back-to-back playoff campaigns under Carlos Carvalhal, the Argentina-born Italian soon saw his Owls career dogged by injury problems and disciplinary issues before leaving in the summer after a divisive five years.

Morrison has played for 11 different teams, including arch-rivals Sheffield United, and has struggled for regular game-time and consistency in that time. This is something he acknowledged during an appearance on Rio Ferdinand’s ‘Vibe with Five’ podcast, via The Star:

“I think it’s because a lot of people already have a picture in their head of what I am like, so people don’t want to commit and say: ‘We’ll bring him to the club for two or three years’. They think: ‘We’ll give him six months because he might be a problem.'”Chris Wilder also described him as a “maverick” and has previously lauded the midfielder as an “undoubted talent” with “serious ability”, yet his track record would say otherwise. He would likely be another polarising figure at Wednesday.You couldn’t say Forestieri didn’t lack ability – after all, he produced 40 goals and 18 assists in 134 appearances – it’s the fact that it could’ve been so much better with more application and fewer problems, both on and off the pitch.That very much is the same for Morrison.At Manchester United, he was thought to be “better than” the likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard coming through, according to Wayne Rooney. “He struggled with lifestyle and his environment which was sad for him,” explained the Red Devils legend to The Sunday Times.The Owls could do with all the help they can get right now, so taking Morrison on board for the remainder of the season could be a smart ploy, but they will need to be weary for the long run. Things quickly turned south for Forestieri, and that’s not something that needs to be repeated at Hillsborough again.

Depois de ser goleado pelo Cruzeiro, por 5 a 2, dentro de sua Arena, o Botafogo se reapresentou em General Severiano. Com segurança reforçada e reunião interna, tanto entre os jogadores e quanto entre a diretoria e o técnico Jair Ventura, que, depois, comandou atividade técnica dos reservas na sede.

Além de quatro seguranças particulares contratados pelo clube na porta da sede, um carro da Polícia Militar ficou do lado de fora, vigiando caso alguém decidisse protestar por conta do resultado negativo da última quinta-feira.

O clube buscou se precaver para que não pudesse acontecer outro episódio de cobrança e invasão da torcida, como o do início de junho, quando uma organizada pulou a catraca da entrada e cobrou os jogadores no gramado.

Dentro do clube, antes do treino, a alta cúpula da diretoria alvinegra se reuniu e discutiu alguns pontos após a goleada sofrida na última quinta. Estiveram presentes o presidente Carlos Eduardo Pereira, o gerente de futebol Antônio Lopes, o vice-presidente de futebol, Cacá Azeredo, e o técnico Jair Ventura.

Depois, o comandante reuniu todo o elenco no centro do gramado – até mesmo os jogadores titulares que já estavam liberados, por terem feito o treino regenerativo antes – e teve uma conversa de cerca de dez minutos com eles.

A atividade foi marcada por um treino em campo reduzido para os reservas. O ponto de destaque foi a presença do boliviano Lizio. Ele está recuperado de cirurgia e treinou com bola. O próximo compromisso do Botafogo será contra o Grêmio, neste domingo, na Arena da Ilha do Governador, pelo Brasileirão.

Many Manchester United fans were left to slam the display of Fred in their 0-0 away draw at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men really struggled to break the South London club down at all and in the end had to settle for a point, which meant that they lost further ground on their local rivals Manchester City in the title race and will now surely be looking more over their shoulders than in front of them.

Fred’s performance in particular flattered to deceive several members of the Old Trafford faithful, as the central midfield player lost out on no fewer than eight of his duels in the game, while also failing to record a single clearance and losing possession of the ball eight times, earning him a quite measly 6.6 overall rating on Sofascore, the second-lowest out of any of his teammates to have started the match.

These Red Devils slammed his performance on Twitter, with one MUFC supporter saying that the Brazil international was ‘poor’ while another claimed he is ‘one of the worst players’ in the team:
